The Chicago music scene
Chicago has always been a city bursting with musical energy. Known for its vast musical heritage the windy city is frequently associated with blues music, as well as jazz, house, R&B and hip hop. The Chicago music scene is rich and is widely recognized as the center of development for jazz music in its earliest days, as well as a great influence in other genres.
Blues is the main music genre of Chicago. The city is famous for its blues clubs, live blues performances and artist. The most important instrument of the time was the saxophone, which became widely used in jazz music since then. The Chicago music scene has been creative and vibrant all through the early 1990s and dozens of artists rose from the Chicago clubs.
Chicago is the birthplace of house music and the name of this genre is believed to come from a club named the Warehouse. The windy city has played a major role in the evolution of electronic dance music. Chicago has also had a blooming rock scene and has also led to the development of many sub-genres of the type, making punk rock, indie rock, emo and pop punk known to the world.
