Indie music awards
Indie rock describes a vast variety of sub-genres pertaining to alternative rock. In popular culture indie rock is often used interchangeably with alternative rock, with the major difference known mostly to those most familiar with what indie represents.
Independent music started out in the late 70s to early 80s as the type of music produced in low budget record labels, where the artists were allowed to make their own music that was different from the mainstream sound. After a while indie music would describe the original, do-it-yourself or underground style of musicians.
Indie rock music is appreciated worldwide with due to its unique style and various awards have been created to celebrate independent music, with all its sub-genres. The Independent Music Awards is an international program that listens and loves the tunes of so many indie rock artists around the world and nominate them to win the title of best indie rock band or artist.
Hollywood has also devised an award show that can bring indie artists in the spotlight to help them get heard by a wider public, as well as gather them all in the same place for the delight of all indie rock fans. The eWorld Music Awards were held in 2011 the same weekend as the Grammys and gave prizes to indie music artists from everywhere in the world, who wanted to participate in the contest. Entry was determined by submitting a song into the contest and the best were chosen to appear in the show and perform in the ultimate competition.
Another event that takes honors independent music are the AVIMA Indie Music Awards, which are known as the world’s biggest indie awards. Apart from this event, other music events like the MTV Music Awards and the Grammy Awards also honor indie bands and indie solo artists with prizes in different categories, if they are lucky enough to win.
